Welcome to another edition of Must Read Monday!

This feature is where I spotlight older, recent, or upcoming releases I am looking forward to. The lists will include all genres I like to read, everything from picture books to comics, children’s lit to adult fiction!

This week is all about thrillers! First up is I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh. I believe this title came to my attention by chance during one of my many browses on Goodreads! The book description hooked me in immediately, and I added it to my TBR pile! Since then, I’ve been hearing great buzz about this book- from librarian colleagues and early reviews. I enjoy a good psychological thriller, and mysteries in general that focus on character and investigation- I Let You Go sounds like it could really deliver on all factors. Second up is Megan Miranda’s mystery All the Missing Girls. Miranda has published multiple young adult titles (Fracture, Hysteria, and others); All the Missing Girls is her adult fiction debut. All the Missing Girls, as with I Let You Go, gripped me right away with its standout book description. In addition to the promise of multiple narratives- which I love when done well- the novel is described as being told in reverse. Warped timeline in a thriller- yes! When in the right hands, a twisted timeline can make for terrific and taut reading.

Expected publication: May 3, 2016 by Berkley

On a rainy afternoon, a mother’s life is shattered as her son slips from her grip and runs into the street . . .

I Let You Go follows Jenna Gray as she moves to a ramshackle cottage on the remote Welsh coast, trying to escape the memory of the car accident that plays again and again in her mind and desperate to heal from the loss of her child and the rest of her painful past.

At the same time, the novel tracks the pair of Bristol police investigators trying to get to the bottom of this hit-and-run. As they chase down one hopeless lead after another, they find themselves as drawn to each other as they are to the frustrating, twist-filled case before them.

Expected publication: June 28, 2016 by Simon & Schuster

It’s been ten years since Nicolette Farrell left her rural hometown after her best friend, Corinne, disappeared from Cooley Ridge without a trace. Back again to tie up loose ends and care for her ailing father, Nic is soon plunged into a shocking drama that reawakens Corinne’s case and breaks open old wounds long since stitched.

The decade-old investigation focused on Nic, her brother Daniel, boyfriend Tyler, and Corinne’s boyfriend Jackson. Since then, only Nic has left Cooley Ridge. Daniel and his wife, Laura, are expecting a baby; Jackson works at the town bar; and Tyler is dating Annaleise Carter, Nic’s younger neighbor and the group’s alibi the night Corinne disappeared. Then, within days of Nic’s return, Annaleise goes missing.

Told backwards—Day 15 to Day 1—from the time Annaleise goes missing, Nic works to unravel the truth about her younger neighbor’s disappearance, revealing shocking truths about her friends, her family, and what really happened to Corinne that night ten years ago.
