I used to join in on the fun Top Ten Tuesday meme on my old site, and thought it might be good to give it a whirl again here! Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week: the last ten books acquired! The titles listed can be those received through the library, galleys, publishers, etc. The following ten are a combination of digital galleys, purchases and library items:
1. The Unmapped Sea (The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place #5) by Maryrose Wood I’ve been on a tear through this wonderful series! Currently reading book four of this historical/mystery middle-grade series and it’s just getting better and better. (Purchased)
2. Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman I am so thrilled to be getting a chance to read Vengeance Road, touted as a Wild West, True Grit style historical/western YA. (Digital galley)
3. Max the Brave by Ed Vere A wonderful picture book from an author/illustrator whose work is bold, vibrant, sly and funny. It will be published in the early fall! (Digital galley)
4. Bone Gap by Laura Ruby I have read and heard tremendous things about this YA title- a blend of mystery, fantasy and magical realism. (Library)
5. The Hired Girl by Laura Amy Schlitz Historical title from the Newbery-award winning children’s writer, already receiving rave advance praise. (Digital galley)
6. A Study in Death (Lady Darby Mystery #4) by Anna Lee Huber I’ve talked about my love of Huber’s mystery series before! I’m waiting for a weekend where I know I will have the time to just sit back for a few hours, relax, and dive in. (Purchased)
7. Where You Came From by Sara O’Leary, illus. Julie Morstad A picture book from an author-illustrator team that I consider to be one of the best in the field. (Purchased)
8. Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford The debut novel from a New York Times writer; described as a blend of Bonfire of the Vanities, Prep and Rules of Civility. Intriguing! (Galley)
9. Here by Richard McGuire Considered to a superb and ground-breaking (and genre-breaking) graphic novel, I cannot wait to start on this one. (Library)
10. Your Voice Is All I Hear by Leah Scheier I really enjoyed Scheier’s historical YA debut Secret Letters, so I am thrilled to be able to read title the author’s second novel- a contemporary title dealing with serious issues regarding mental illness. (Digital galley)
