Hello lovely readers! Welcome to a brand new post featuring three utterly lovely board books, courtesy of friends at Templar/Candlewick Press/Penguin Random House Canada. Let’s dive right in!

Seed and Drip, written and illustrated by Maggie Li, are titles in a new non-fiction board book series called Little Life Cycles. These are absolutely adorable die-cut board books that introduce young readers to the life cycles of different elements. In the case of Drip, readers are introduced to a “tiny drop of water” named Drip and we take a trip through the incredible life cycle of a single drop of water. In the case of Seed, readers are introduced to “tiny seed” named Pip who we find inside an “apple core”, and we follow along Pip along a grand journey from seed to a sprout to a tree. With Li’s welcoming text, cheerful artwork and smiling faces on our die-cut main characters, Seed and Drip are wonderfully appealing and understandable. My four year old has been enamoured of these new board book friends and eagerly awaits meeting Pip and Drip to revisit their adventures. It looks as though more titles are to come from Maggie Li and this series- with Frog and Bug set to publish in 2023!

Written by author and editor Camilla Reid and illustrated by renowned artist and graphic designer Ingela P. Arrhenius, Peekaboo: Chick is a supremely sweet and gorgeously appealing board book. Featuring short rhyming text and ‘slider’ technology- where little ones can push, pull out, or slide back-and-forth to reveal the most darling of surprises- Peekaboo: Chick is an utterly charming and beautifully presented board book. Colourful, bright, smiling friends await readers inside- from caterpillars to ducks, to raindrops and deer- culminate in a final mirror reveal, sure to delight young readers at every read. Readers might already be familiar with Arrhenius’s vibrant and recognizable artwork, or have read the artists popular felt flap series (such as Where’s the Astronaut?, Where’s the T. Rex?). Readers looking for more Peekaboo… books may also be delighted to discover that there are many more titles in this enchanting, interactive series!

I received copies of these titles courtesy of partner Templar Books, Candlewick Press, and Penguin Random House Canada in exchange for honest reviews. All opinions and comments are my own. Titles have been published and are currently available.
